Update

There was the book fair at the school this week. I spent more then what I should but it does go back into the school so I’m trying not to feel bad about that. There was also an open house at Dax’s school. I think it went well. I really like the teacher Dax has this year. Tyde’s open house is Tuesday and I’m really looking forward to that. I’ve only met one of his teachers so far. He also has a Dr’s appointment that day.

Rudy has finished the soffit on the house and is almost done putting all the lights up outside. All gazillion of them, actually I think there are about 13 or 14 of them. I haven’t went around and counted them yet. We definitely will not have a problem seeing at night and neither will our neighbors.

Dax’s soccer team, the lightning, struck again. They played a Cocoa Beach team and the game should have been called when the score was 7-0 but the coaches wanted to let the girls keep playing. I think the end score was 15-1. Dax’s team is on a roll now. They play Rockledge next week. We’ll see if their winning streak holds up for them. Dax is number 12.

I finished the mermaid socks and Dax whisked them off as fast as she could.

I found this in my closet. It’s a sweater I started about a year ago and didn’t finish. It’s made from Peace Fleece yarn and pattern that I picked up over a year ago at the Maryland sheep and wool festival. I thought I would pick it back up and try and finish it.

I’m seriously eyeing this sweater from Knit picks for Dax. The colors would look great on her.

I’ve also heard that one of my favorite books might become a movie. I heard about it here. Wee Free Men has been acquired by one of the motion picture makers. I couldn’t find any information on when the release date will be though.

Mail

Look what I got in the mail, pottery by us :). This is the pottery we painted while in Alabama at a store called Pottery by you. It takes them a week to fire it and we were only there a few days. My sister picked it up for us and mailed it. It looks great and I can easily see myself getting more into this pottery stuff.

Dax’s pottery did get broke but I think we can easily fix it with some glue.

Soccer season has started again. Their first game was Saturday and it was very exciting. I thought it ended in a tie but was told we were one score up, something like 6-7. Maybe I should pay more attention when they are playing.

This and that

Well it’s been a while so here’s a quick recap of what’s been going on.

I celebrated my 41st birthday. It hasn’t sunk in yet that I’m that old. What ever happened to the thirty something years, hmm. Rudy and the kids took me out to see Pirates of the Caribbean. I’ve heard mixed reviews on this movie so didn’t have high expectations. Turns out I really enjoyed the show and so did the kids.

Tyde and Dax started school. I really feel that summer was to short this year. Tyde started 7th grade and he now goes to a school that goes from 7th -12th and Dax is in 6th. They are at different schools and it is taking me a little while to get in to a new routine. I’ve decided that I will not be as involved in the PTO and let them know that I will not be the President this year. At our last meeting we found a new President and it felt a bit awkward for me. I really am glad to no longer have the job though.

I’ve managed to finish a top I was working on. I think the pattern was called pretty in pink. Maybe that makes the one I made called pretty in blue. It doesn’t fit as nicely as I was hoping. I like the bottom part of it but the top isn’t shaped the way I was picturing it to. Dax likes it though. She wants to make her one. I got the pattern for it off the internet from a blog called Delicious Stitches The yarn I used is from Hancock Fabrics

Rudy has been working on the soffit (not sure how you spell that).

We should be hearing about the kitchen cabinets soon. We are (what feels like) oh so slowly approaching the 12 week mark. The guy who is making the cabinets said it would take 8-12 weeks. It will be 12 weeks on Aug. 24.

Back from Bama

Our trip to Alabama was a great get away. We were able to keep our selves busy while at the same time keep it relaxing. We went on country walks, visited fruit and vegetable stands, the creek, swimming, bowling, pottery painting and shopping. Here are some pictures from the trip.

The drive down went very good. However the drive back was a bit wet. It rained alot.
Stopping at a rest stop for lunch. I really liked the rest stops, very nice.

Meet Captain Carrots! An angora bunny.

Tyde makes a friend. This is Rocky.

Dax's friend Pepper.

Sam helps the kids make candles.

A day at the bowling alley. I have a better picture of the group at the bowling alley but this one Tyde almost has a smile so I used it instead.

Some time at the creek.

The paint your own pottery place. I really liked this place. I had a good time and even got an early birthday cake while there.

I wish I had taken more pictures but I guess at least I took some :). I have to try and catch up more tomorrow.
